Pierside

02.17.09  |   Drinks

For anyone who was keeping track, I haven’t been drinking for a couple of weeks. I was on medication that reacted to alcohol like the drug Anibuse does. That isn’t good. Anibuse is the drug that they give to alcoholics in rehab. It makes you hate alcohol like Mel Gibson hates __________ (insert race that isn’t his own). My “February” or sober month ended a little early because the medication that reacts poorly with alcohol also reacts poorly with me, so I’m officially not taking it anymore. I had to celebrate and the Pierside was created.

Last night my buddy and I played drinking games watching The Office and Two and a Half Men. I’m sure that there are a ton of rules for drinking games with those shows, so I won’t go into boring details about ours. Needless to say, I had five (I think) of these drinks and got pretty hammered. I know that’s a short story, but really that was the night.

As for the drink, I think it’s pretty damn good. It tastes like a Long Island Iced Tea or Long Beach, but I think I like this one a little bit better. It takes out a little bit of the margarita flavor that you get with Tequila and adds a fruitier flavor with gold rum and a splash of Malibu. I would definitely recommend this drink in any setting. It’s a little on the girly side as far as presentation, but it will get you drunk and tastes really good.

Ingredients

1 Part: Bacardi® Gold Rum
1 Part: Jose Cuervo® Margarita Mix
1 Splash: Malibu® Coconut Rum
1 Splash: Coca Cola®

Instructions

Mix as you would a Long Island Iced Tea. If you don’t know how to make one, pour in the gold rum, margarita mix, malibu, and finally coke in that order. The coke should go last so that you can see it trickling down into the drink when it’s first made.
