Keystone Kamikaze

This is the drink that turned a blogging light bulb on in my brain. I woke up one morning at Cory’s lake house and we decided it was time to start drinking. It was our last day there, however, and there were limited drinks and mixers. Among the options were Skyy Vodka, Keystone Light, and Jose Cuervo margarita mix. I figured this mix would taste fine because in college I would mix up pitchers of lemonade concentrate, any light beer, and vodka in generously strong portions as my house jungle juice any time I would host a house party. I decided to mix up the three ingredients we had left at the lake in a big plastic cup and join Cory on the lakeside deck and figure out what to do with the day. I was pretty proud of coming up with a tasty drink with limited options, and as I was thinking about this the idea for the blog came to me. I brought it up, Cory came up with even more ideas, and we just ran with it. That’s about how I recall this blog’s concept coming up.
So, it was 10am and I had already mixed myself this drink because that is simply how we roll at the lake house. The whole day was spent coming up with blog ideas and much of it was attempting to name this drink. Some variation of jungle juice was agreed upon, but when I began to write this post, I realized this drink is essentially a Kamikaze with beer. A normal Kamikaze includes mostly vodka, with small parts of triple sec and lime juice. I should have realized this because I’ve drank Kamikazes many times before. They’re actually really freaking good, which is probably why I liked the combo I made at the lake right away—it was bringing up flashbacks of a good drink. I had used margarita mix in place of the triple sec and lime juice. Thus, Keystone Kamikaze seemed like a fitting name. I actually enjoyed the drink a lot and recommend it to anybody. Any light beer can obviously substitute for the Keystone, because honestly they are all the same—don’t be fooled and let Bud Light commercials tell you otherwise.
