Handsome Jack

If you couldn’t tell already, the writers on this blog love to drink. We will use any type of social situation as an excuse to make up a new drink and it’s not always about the alcohol, but about the massive amounts of flavors and tastes that can be combined to make the next great drink. Even a dead Saturday night in Santa Clarita can’t stop the crew from inventing a new shot. Yes, this town is boring. In fact, I’m pretty sure if ‘Saturday night in Santa Clarita’ were a Wikipedia entry, it would be left blank for lack of anything going on. Seriously, how many times in a row does a 20-something have to show up at [insert chain restaurant bar name here] before he is declared mentally insane? With that said, Cory and I watched the Lakers win another game and then we went to that bar. I feel like this has happened before. Oh well, this is the story of the Handsome Jack.

Well, this drink was made for drinking’s sake, and nothing else. It was also a creation of the grocery bag in the back of my truck I like to think of as my traveling bar. There isn’t much to this bar, but the drinks are always free. It’s usually limited to cheap bottles I don’t mind sharing with people. Beer pong is always welcome at this bar as well. Alright, to be honest, I didn’t even supply the Jack Daniels, but I did have Tanqueray, Tecate and Triple Sec in my bar. There was probably a sip of Jameson also left in there, and a mixed drink of Bacardi and root beer in a random bottle that nobody finished. This bar definitely has a bright future. As far as the drink we put together, I was expecting it to taste terrible and I was pleasantly surprised by it. Cory mixed up 2 parts Jack Daniels, 2 parts Tanqueray Gin, 1 part Tecate and 1 part Triple Sec. Apparently I just love the mix of beer and triple sec with any type of alcohol, just like I enjoy mixing my Keystone Kamikazes. This drink was made stronger than that drink though in order to make it in shot form. The combination of flavors in the shot almost tasted like there was Sprite in the drink, which was interesting. In fact, I’m pretty sure if you gave the shot to somebody and told then to try and name what is in the drink, they would include Sprite or soda as an ingredient. Even though I enjoyed the drink, I felt it was a rather uneventful mix of flavors, just like it was a relatively uneventful night in my hometown.

Cory’s input was lost

So there used to be this story about the weekend on this post that I wrote, but the blog went down and I lost a little bit of my posts, including my part to this one. Yes, I was being lazy at backing things up and now you get this post. I don’t think the story was all that eventful though, it was like, “Blah blah blah went to a bar, girls got naked, sexy party ensued.” Super standard weekend. Oh and the Lakers are still the greatest team in history.

I guess I should talk about the shot. It smelled like gin and I thought it would be terrible. It ended up being decent and tasting like gin and Sprite of all things, with a hint of whiskey sweetness. Not bad at all.
